Chin National Party kick starts campaign, opens sub-township offices

28 July 2010: The Chin National Party (CNP) has kick started its election campaign and formed sub-township level committees and opened sub-offices in southern Chin state from the second week of July.

The president Pu Zozam and general secretary Ceubikthawng of CNP spearheaded the campaign in southern Chin state in Mintat, Kanpalet and Matupi townships for 2010 general election as the party represents all Chin people.

“We had formed township level committees and opened sub-offices in Mintat town and Kanpalet town. Now they are planning to open sub-office in Matupi town,” said the general secretary through email.

He added that they have to head for Hakha, capital of Chin state after opening a sub-office in Matupi town.

According to Chin World news, CNP had formed a township level committee on 24 July in Falam town, upper Chin state, and township central working committee also set up in Thantlang Township. Besides, pamphlet which says “Vote CNP, CNP...we love you, We love CNP" has been distributed to local people and pasted on shops, cars and motorbikes in Falam town.

Chin National Party (CNP) was established on 27 March 2010 in Yangon city by Pu Zozam by educated Chin youths. The symbol of the party is hornbill and the party flag is blue, red, green colours as background and a big star in the centre.

Meanwhile, the Ethnic National Development Party (ENDP) also opened sub-office in Hakha city. The party will contest in the constituencies of Matupi, Thantlang and Paletwa.

And the Chin Progressive Party (CPP) will contest in Tamu and Kalemyo of Sagaing division and Falam, Mintat, Kanpalet and Paletwa townships in Chin state. The party had opened sub-offices in these areas. – Khonumthung News.
